Year 8 Book Club with Mr Webb

Our final Year 8 Book Club for 2012 was a very enjoyable experience with one of the Middle School’s favourite teachers coming along.  Mr Webb taught many of the boys in the past, and they enjoyed talking to him about books he read when he was their age – Famous Five, Hardy Boys, Biggles – as well as books the boys in his class are currently reading.  He also surprised them with the fact that he enjoyed reading Shakespeare’s plays when he was a teenager.

This year we’ve had a great time in Book Club: discussing favourite books, inviting in guest teachers, creating posters, playing literature games, participating in The Hobbit Second Breakfast and the Brisbane Writers’ Festival, and going on a book buying excursion to Dymocks.

Will there be a Year 9 Book Club in 2013?  Most definitely, but the boys will run a lot of it themselves, with different boys in charge on different dates – under Mrs Oxley’s expert guidance of course!
