InterfaceLIFT – Free Desktop Images

If you are looking for some beautiful desktop images and screen-savers, take a look at the huge collection of photographs freely available from InterfaceLIFT.  These are uploaded by photographers around the world, and you can see other images they have taken, create an account for your favourites, receive updates via RSS feeds and leave a comment on their work.

Most of the images on the site are of landscapes, some quite stunning, but many are also of interesting cityscapes and fascinating architecture, and a few are good shots of animals. Some of the earlier images were created by digital artists, but most of the recent ones are by photographers. If you are interested in photography, the photographers usually give a brief description of the type of camera and lens used to create the effect.

Before you download, choose the resolution you need for your screen. Also, make sure you save the images with the file names listed – if you rename them it can be hard to find the same image again if you need it.

Searching is either done by date, or by tags: colour, scene, location, medium, event, equipment or subject. There is also an app available for the iPad and the iPhone.
